District 202 Education Partners, good evening...

More information will be posted and sent tomorrow, but we thought you might like to get this GREAT news ASAP:

District 202's scores on the state tests (ISAT, PSAE, etc.) rose again this year; more schools made Adequate Yearly Progress than ever before; and the achievement gap between white and minority students is falling.

But the BEST part is that all of this is happening even as we continue to grow, the state and national learning expectations continue to rise, and the economy struggles.

As the Board of Education heard last night, "this is the magnificent story of District 202."

Meanwhile, the proposed 2009-2010 budget will continue to focus on and protect our ongoing investment in teaching and learning, while cutting and controlling costs to try to reduce a projected $16 million operating fund deficit caused largely by inadequate revenues and an unstable state funding system.

We have made remarkable academic progress while "doing more with less" - larger classrooms than the state average, lower teacher pay than the state average, etc. The road ahead is going to be bumpy, but we're working hard to keep focused on what's most important - our students.

Here are the two press releases to get you started. More information will follow on Friday.
