Summer School Offerings

Course Title: DRIVER EDUCATION, CPR, FIRST AID, AND SAFETY Driver Education/CPR/First Aid and Safety-Must
have passed 8 credits the previous year. Students will be enrolled
by birth date with earliest birth date having preference.
Credit: 0.5 Fees: Students must pay the Behind-the-Wheel fee at Summer registration. Students must also purchase mask for CPR manikins. Driver education, First
aid, and Safety will promote the development of citizens who will learn
the traffic regulations and laws and will become safe and responsible users
of the highway transportation system. This program uses an integrated
approach to the classroom phase of driver education and the behind the
wheel phase. We will also be incorporating the Red Cross first aid
and safety curriculum, along with the Red Cross adult and infant CPR.
All sophomores, juniors, and seniors under the age of eighteen must successfully
complete all phases of Driver Education prior to receiving a State of Illinois
Driver's License.
Course Title: HEALTH 10 Grade Open to: 10, 11, 12 Semester: 1 or 2 Credit: 0.5 Prerequisite Course/Grade Recommendation: Fees: none The purpose of this course is to provide the
Health requirement for transfer students or for those students who need
to repeat the Health Segment of Health/Wellness class. Health and Wellness
is a way of life. Emphasis will be placed on creating a healthy
lifestyle. Topical areas will include, Mental health, the Life Cycle,
Wellness, Health and Society, Mood Modifying Substances, Personal Lifestyle,
Health and Society, and other related subjects. This is a semester
class with the Health requirement being met.
Course Title: FITNESS-PROGRAM DESIGN Grade Open to: 10 Credit: 0.5 Prerequisite Course/Grade Recommendation: None Fees: Students must have Physical Education uniform and school approved lock. Fitness/Program Design is part of a Sophomore year sequence along with Driver Ed/CPR/Safety. The class is oriented toward program design and discovery of fitness activities. Classroom time will spent on units of Goal Setting, Nutrition, and Violence prevention. Students will also be involved in a reading project. Numerous physical activities will be offered that are health related. Step Aerobics, Dance, Walking, Circuit Training, and Jogging are a few of the activities that are offered. Students will experience various activities, and as part of their final research project, they will design and present their own individual fitness program. Physical Education Grade open to:11-12

The purpose of this
course is to provide the Physical Education requirement for those students
who need to take required course and may not do so during the regular school
year. This class does not take the place of Skills for Healthy living
offered at the Junior level. Emphasis will be placed on Recreational
games, Individual games, and wellness as a way of life. Activities will
include Softball, Tennis, Sand Volleyball, Archery, and Roller blading.
This is a semester class with the Physical Education requirement
met.
