New in 2011, the Bluestem Award is designed for students in grades 3-5 who are ready for longer titles but not quite ready for the sophistication of some of the books nominated for the Rebecca Caudill Award. The award is named after the Illinois state prairie grass, and the nominees include both timeless classics and current titles.
