About Our District - 2011-16 Strategic Plan

2011-16 Strategic Plan

In 2006, District 202 created a five-year Strategic Plan to reflect its priorities, shape its goals and guide its work during a period of intense growth.

The Board of Education approved a Strategic Plan for 2011-16 in December 2011.

Here is an overview of the work to create the 2011-16 Strategic Plan.

About 275 taxpayers, parents, staff members, community leaders and students came together over four days (May 2-5, 2011) to begin that process.

All 30 District 202 schools - working together as a House - were represented.

Participants were asked to identify what they liked and disliked about District 202; what they would change (and how they might change it); and what they would drop, given the significant financial issues facing public schools today.

Administrators presented information about District 202's academics, student services, finances, personnel and technology; and an Executive Summary of the 2011 Community Survey administered online in March and April 2011.

Participants "filtered" their priorities through the lens of that information, eliminating those items not supported by the data.

At the end of each day, this process produced a "bull's eye" of each group's top priorities.

District administration will continue to hone this information and present a draft 2011-16 Strategic Plan this fall to the Board of Education. It is expected that the Board will approve the new Strategic Plan this winter.

For the community's information, here are all of the materials used during the May 2011 Strategic Planning meetings.
