District 202 Education Partners, hello…

Here is this week’s District 202 news and information, including a “digital ton” of photos and videos from this week’s homecoming activities: 


SPECIAL NEWS

The “Village” features both a “family friendly” version appropriate for younger kids, and another for older students and adults.

Proceeds benefit the Foundation, which supports all District 202 students, staff, family and community through scholarships, grants and funding for special programming.


THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Here are the Board of Education meeting notes from the September 28, 2015 meeting.
  • The District 202 Board of Education will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at the district administrative center, 15732 Howard Street to vote on:
    • a request to waive the state requirement that all students have physical education class every day, and
    • a request seeking approval from the state to raise our drivers education fee to $400 from the current $250.
  • The Jon Balke Student Art Gallery is proud to feature works this month from Crystal Lawns, Freedom and Wesmere elementary schools, and Heritage Grove Middle School.

KUDOS AND CONGRATULATIONS
  • Plainfield North High School senior Sierra Lopezalles earned a perfect 36 composite score on the ACT college entrance exam.
  • Bonnie McBeth Early Learning Center teacher Meghan McAdams is the winner of the 2015 Bonnie McBeth Early Learning Scholarship.
  • Eichelberger Elementary School teacher Beth Downey won a $525 grant from the Horace Mann insurance agency to be used to buy classroom books.
  • The Plainfield East High School marching band recently was invited to observe,work with and perform for the Northern Illinois University marching band.
