MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT 202

District 202 Education Partners, hello. Here is this week’s news and information:


SPECIAL NEWS
  • District 202 will host two community forums about the project to implement full-day kindergarten next school year, on November 30th at Ira Jones Middle School; and December 2nd at Aux Sable Middle School. Both will be from 6:30-8 p.m.

More information about the full-day kindergarten initiative is posted on the web sites for all 17 elementary schools, the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center and District 202.

  • Speaking of huge initiatives, District 202 is also making several major changes to the middle school schedule next year, including allowing 7th graders to take entry-level high school Spanish.

More information is posted on all elementary and middle school web sites, and on the District 202 web site.

KUDOS AND CONGRATULATIONS
  • Six District 202 high school student athletes are competing at the state swimming meet this weekend at New Trier High School, as members of the District 202 swimming coop:
    • PNHS senior Carly Kramer -- Sectional Champion in the 100 Fly and Number One statewide heading into this weekend; also qualified in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free relay & 400 Free relay
    • PNHS junior Shaw Barney -- qualified in the 200 Individual Medley (4th at Sectional); also qualified in the 200 Medley Relay & 400 Free relay;
    • PNHS sophomore Kate Meunier -- qualified in the 200 Individual Medley (5th at Sectional) and the 100 Breaststroke (6th at Sectional); also qualified in the 200 Medley Relay & 400 Free relay
    • PSHS freshman Veronica Banas -- qualified as a member of the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay and 400 Free Relay. She is also the first female swimming qualifier in PSHS history.
    • PEHS senior Rachel Walter and her sister, sophomore Grace Walter -- qualified as members of the 200 Free Relay.
