The Great Read proudly celebrates President Abraham Lincoln on the 150th anniversary of his Emancipation Proclamation, which led to the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution abolishing slavery in 1865.

The 2013 Great Read Program

Rather than featuring one book, this year The Great Read will host numerous programs highlighting President Lincoln's monumental place in American history. Participants are encouraged to read any of the many books about President Lincoln and participate in all programs that suit their interest.
