New Teacher Induction Requirements
2019-2020

Develop and maintain an Induction program that creates self-reflective leaders who value their role and continuously work to move their practice forward based on what is best for students.

INDUCTION FAQ's

New Teachers to PCCSD 202 are expected to attend all scheduled meetings.

Year 1:

  • Four full days of induction prior to the start of the school year
  • Up 30 hours to be held after the school day, includes 5 principal hours throughout the year by your building administrator.

Year 2:

  • Up to 15 hours to be held after the school day, this includes 5 principal hours throughout the year by your building administrator.

Year 3 - For “novice” teachers only.

  • A novice teacher is a teacher entering PCCSD 202 with less than two years of teaching experience. 
  • Teachers will participate in up to 15 hours to be held after the school day, this includes 5 principal hours throughout the year by your building administrator.

  • The agenda outlining topics, meeting place and other pertinent information will be sent out approximately one week prior to the scheduled meeting.

1 Newly hired teachers with prior experience are teachers who have two (2) or more complete years of recent teaching experience.  
2 Novice teachers are teachers who have less than two complete years of recent teaching experience or teachers who have not taught in the last two years.
3 The orientation days referenced in the chart above will be scheduled during the month of August.  New hires that miss Induction Days will be able to make up days through building administration and/or Academy sessions provided by the Probationary Teacher Committee.
4 Probationary teachers will receive an induction schedule for the induction hours referenced in the chart above at the beginning of the school year.  An induction agenda will be posted prior to each meeting.

How do I know what classes are required for induction?

All induction/professional development: topics (aligned to the Danielson model), dates, and times will be on the page.  You will also receive this plus other information that you may need for your monthly induction sessions from your principal.  If you have not received this information, and you are a 1st- or 2d-year teacher, or a 3d-year novice teacher, please contact your principal.
