Parents and Students > Student Accident Insurance
Student accident insurance is available on an optional basis and may be purchased at any time
during the school year. This student accident insurance coverage becomes a supplemental and
secondary provider to any hospital, medical, surgical, or dental benefits available under any other
family insurance or medical service plan, including HMO's, PPO' s, and Automobile No-Fault
insurance. The District will not have paper pamphlets for distribution. Full details of coverage
and limitations may be obtained from: Zevitz-Redfield & Associates/Gerber Life Insurance
www.k12specialmarkets.com or (847) 374-0888.
It is important to note that student injuries sustained at school are routinely filed either
through the family's insurance plan or through this type of student accident insurance plan
if the parents elect to purchase it, or both. The school district's insurance coverage can
only be accessed if the student accident/injury is legally determined to be the result of
"willful and wanton" misconduct on the part of a school district employee.
