Mr. Chris Dortwegt has taught music at Plainfield South High School since 2007. He is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a degree in Music Education. Mr. Dortwegt is a woodwind player with performance experience on flute, clarinet, saxophone, and piano. He studied flute with esteemed performer and teacher Thomas Robertello and has performed with ensembles including the Classical Symphony Orchestra, Indiana University Symphony Orchestra and Marching Hundred. Mr. Dortwegt was also a member of the prestigious IU Wind Ensemble, most recently as the principal flute for a performance at the 2007 College Band Directors National Association Convention in Ann Arbor, MI.

Before joining the PSHS Faculty, Mr. Dortwegt assisted with the Bloomington North High School Marching Band and student taught in the Lafayette School Corporation, working with both the award winning Lafayette Jefferson Marching Band and with beginning band students. In the spring of 2007, he was selected as one of five Indiana University Education students to receive the Outstanding Future Educator Award given by the Indiana Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

At PSHS, Mr. Dortwegt teaches AP Music Theory and co-directs the marching and concert bands. He also conducts the pit orchestra for the spring musical.
