The Professional Development Department is responsible for:

• Induction for teachers that are in their first, second, or third year of teaching
• all aspects of mentoring including Full Release Mentors, Instructional Mentors for Year 1 and 2 teachers and Building Advisors for experienced teachers who are new to the Plainfield School District
• working with the University of St. Francis as teachers write their “Effective Teacher” paper for Induction requirements

For questions pertaining to advancement on the pay scale, obtaining advanced certificates, or Professional Growth hours that are not part of the induction program, contact the District 202 Administration and Personnel Department (Human Resource) at (815) 577-4058

Induction
View induction documents and/or sign up for Professional Development Workshops.

Mentoring
If you are interested in being an instructional mentor, contact your building administrator for approval.  Please note that this is a two year commitment.  Upon administrator approval you will need to have completed three required trainings:

• Introduction to Mentoring
• Coaching and Observation
• Online Observation Tool

If you plan on being an active mentor this school year and have not taken these, you must sign up.  Contact Nancy Ziech, confidential secretary for Professional Development, at the Administration Office, 815-577-4032.

Classes will be held September 19th and 26th at Creekside. If you feel that you need a refresher on using the tools, please attend the September 26th class at Creekside.
