District 202 custodian Jairo Manriquez spreads water on the multipurpose room floor at Charles Reed Elementary School on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Manriquez was working with four others stripping and prepping the floor for a new finish to be applied next week.

Hello, District 202 Education Partners,

We hope you are well!

Here is this week’s selection of D. 202 news and information:

This Week's Highlights

  • The State Board of Education released new guidance and directives for local school districts to return to school this fall. District 202 will share its own plan, based on this new guidance, as soon as possible.

  • There is still time to complete your 2020 Census, and it is more important than ever. The Census determines Will County’s share of federal funds. Please complete the 2020 Census. It’s very simple!

Households should have received a letter with a personalized, 12-digit Census ID code.

Go to http://my2020census.gov, use that code to sign in, and you’re all set!

Census data help determine our legislative representation in Congress and our share of $675 billion in federal funding.

Thank you in advance for doing your part!

  • The Student Services Department, in conjunction with Hartgrove Counseling Center, hosted a "Virtual Parent Night" on June 17 and 18, 2020 to share information with parents about childhood mental health, coping tools and parenting resources. Click here for videos in English and Spanish.

Week in Review

These District 202 social media posts got the most attention and feedback this week:
instagram image from instagram District 202 custodians stripped and applied a new coat of finish to the Central Elementary School multipurpose room floor in June. School building floors are stripped every three years. Crews are doing the same work at Charles Reed Elementary School this week. Students use the room for physical education classes, eating lunch, assemblies and PTO events among other things. Kudos to the District 202 custodial staff for its hard work on this job! #202proud #202construction

twitter image from twitter Football is back! The state recently announced student-football players can resume conditioning workouts as a team if they remain 6 feet apart or wear masks. Plainfield North High School football players officially got back on the field last week. #202proud @MrDraperPNHS @PNHSAD

facebook image from facebook Officer Caliendo and K9 Kody spend a lot of time in District 202 schools. Our deepest sympathies go to Officer Caliendo and the Plainfield Police Department. It is with deep sadness to inform the community that our Police K9 and Officer Tracy Caliendo’s partner, Kody, passed away this morning at the age of 8. Godspeed, Kody…we have it from here, buddy!!!

The District 202 Community Relations Department is traveling around the district taking pictures and videos. Check out what our students have been up to!
