The District 202 Board of Education approved hiring Richard Engstrom as the district’s next Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations at its April 24, 2023 regular meeting.

Engstrom served as District 202’s finance director from 2014 to 2020.

He returns to the job after working in the Hinsdale 181 school district as Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations.

Hinsdale 181 serves elementary and middle school students in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills.

Engstrom replaces Anthony Arbogast who will take over the same role at the Oak Park and River Forest High School District 200.

“I am honored and excited about the opportunity to not only come back and serve the community of Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202, but work under and alongside the extraordinary leadership of the district,” Engstrom said.

Engstrom started his career as a fifth-grade teacher and union president in Channahon 17 School District and has worked in the finance field for 10 years.

He begins in July.
