District 202 is looking for volunteers from area companies to mentor and collaborate with high school students in a “Shark Tank” atmosphere next school year.

District 202 is launching the elective INCubatoredu program at the start of the 2024-2025 school year in its four high schools.

The program engages students through the steps of entrepreneurship to teach students the critical skills and behaviors of entrepreneurs.

The goal is to prepare students to develop adaptable, real-world skills for their future careers in building their own businesses.

“We are very excited about providing this proven elective program for our students,” said Cindy Egzio, associate principal at Plainfield East High School.

“We are thrilled that we have 24 juniors and seniors students in each of our high schools already signed up to participate when we begin in the fall of 2024.”

We are looking for business mentors -  Community Champions - who will be liaisons between the schools and the business communities.

We also need coaches who will work with students in class.

Volunteers won’t teach classes but support teachers and students during the school year.

Student teams will spend two semesters developing a business model and gain market input to determine a viable product or service.

The InCubatoredu program culminates with a student “Pitch Night” competition for a volunteer Board of Advisors or investors.

We will be hosting a meet-and-greet informational event on March 18 so look for details in the coming weeks.
