Hello, District 202 Education Partners,

Here is this week’s selection of D. 202 news and information:

This Week's Highlights

SPECIAL MESSAGES:

  • The Board of Education this week approved the 2020-21 School Year Calendar.
    • The first day of school next year will be August 19th.
    • The TENTATIVE last day will be May 27th, if no Emergency Days are used
    • The last day will be June 4th if ALL Emergency Days are used
  • District 202 is once again participating in the state’s 5 Essentials Survey. Parents can share their views about their schools now. Students and teachers will have access later this fall.
  • It seems “Bad Weather” season started a tad early, so please take a minute to acquaint yourself with our Bad Weather procedures.

***Always assume that school is open. We will contact families as soon as possible only if we’re going to close school.

REGULAR INFORMATION

  • The Jon Balke Student Art Gallery will feature works from Freedom, Eagle Pointe, Ridge and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools; Drauden Point and Timber Ridge middle schools; and Plainfield North High School. Stop by the district administrative center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield through November 22nd and check out our talented students’ art.

Kudos and Congratulations
  • The Plainfield North, South and East high school varsity football teams will all play in the first round of the state playoffs this weekend.
    • PEHS and PSHS each won a share of the Southwest Prairie Conference/Eastern division title with 5-4 records, along with Joliet West (4-5).
      • South will play at Lincoln-Way East at 6 p.m. Friday, November 1st
      • East will play at Warren Township (Gurnee) at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 2nd
  • PNHS notched the best record district-wide, going 6-3 in the Southwest Prairie Conference/Western division. They will play at Fremd High School in Palatine at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 1st
  • The Plainfield High School – Central Campus marching band closed its season by winning the Class 4A competition at Western Illinois University.
  • The PNHS marching band won 3rd place overall at the University of Illinois championships, and finished 9th overall at the U of I finals.
