District 202 Education Partners, hello.

As we head into Winter Break, here is this week’s helping of news and information, starting with a special holiday greeting from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Abrell, and Board of Education President Michelle Smithholidaygreeting


SPECIAL NEWS

The District 202 Administration Center will be open for business during Winter Break. However, fingerprinting will not be done over the next two weeks. 


THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • The District 202 Board of Education will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Monday, December 21, 2015 at the district administration center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield.
  • Here are the Board of Education Meeting Notes from the December 14, 2015 regular meeting.
  • Information about the full-day kindergarten initiative, including a video of one of the two public forums is posted on the web sites for all 17 elementary schools, the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center and District 202.

KUDOS AND CONGRATULATIONS
  • Crystal Lawns Elementary School first graders donated 57 pairs of pajamas to the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program. The students collected the pajamas as part of their participation in the  6th Annual Great Bedtime Story Pajama Drive sponsored by Scholastic.
  • The Plainfield High School Hockey Club – made up of students from all four District 202 high schools – collected and donated several hundred toys to deserving children through its annual Toys for Tots Jamboree.
  • This Sunday, December 20, 2015 the hockey club will also help load over 1,500 bags of toys and other donations collected by the Morning Star Mission in Joliet, to be given to over 365 families as part of their Stars of Hope program.
  • Drauden Point Middle School 8th graders raised and donated $2,000 to Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center through its annual Santa’s Workshop event.
