Here is this week’s “Merry Christmas/Happy Holiday” selection of District 202 news and information: 


  • District 202 will again hold a random, computerized lottery in January 2017 for a second year of full-day kindergarten next school year.
  • The deadline to complete the 5 Essentials Survey has been extended to January 30, 2017. Parents are strongly encouraged to take this important survey, to help District 202 assess our schools and provide the best possible services to our students, staff and families.

Martin Luther King Jr's Birthday

  • Plainfield East High School senior Mel Quagrainie received an Honorable Mention at the University of St. Francis Art Show.
  • Members of the PEHS girls’ volleyball team recently volunteered to support the GiftMart project to benefit over 2,000 Joliet and Aurora-area families. The program lets parents pick new, unwrapped donated toys for their children. The toys cost no more than $2 each.

The PEHS students wrapped gifts, helped parents pick toys, took pictures with Santa and babysat kids while parents shopped.

  • Indian Trail Middle School teacher Molly Kowynia’s 6th grade class won the “Most Creative” award in their age category for the Shedd Aquarium’s annual “Wreath-Cycled Classroom Challenge” holiday wreath decorating contest.
  • For the first time in school history, the PSHS Math Team recently took first place in the Southwest Prairie Conference meet held at North Central College.
