MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT 202

Hello Education Partners,

It’s been another very busy week for District 202. Here is today’s news and information:


  • Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Abrell today published this special Letter to Families, Staff and Community as his monthly community column in response to the school shooting this week in Parkland, Florida, and to reiterate our own focus on school safety.
  • To make up for the February 9, 2018 snow day, the new, TENTATIVE last day of school is now May 29, 2018. May 25, 2018 will now be a full day, and the 29th will be an Early Release day.

This year’s program honors the life the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Please check out the Great Read website for a long list of related events at all our nine partner libraries.

  • Plainfield East High School junior Delaney Drummond was named the WGN radio “Kid of the Week” this past week. Delaney, a member of the PEHS girls bowling team was honored for her friendship and support of a special needs student on the team.
  • Several student wrestlers are competing at the state wrestling meet this weekend from:
