MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT 202

Hello Education Partners,

Hope you have had a good week. Here is today’s District 202 news and information:

Parents continue to ask about school security in the wake of the Parklands, Florida shooting on February 14, 2018. We understand, appreciate and share these concerns.

With that in mind, we’re sharing Superintendent of Schools Dr. Abrell’s Letter to the Community again this week. The letter addresses our continuous efforts to create and maintain safe schools and work places.

We will continue to share information with families and staff as needed.

Please feel free to call your school principal(s) for more details.

  • The Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the District 202 Administrative Center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield. The public session starts at 7:30 p.m.

Chicago musician and educator Maggie Brown will perform Civil Rights-era songs at the Joliet Library/Black Road Branch. The free event starts at 6 p.m.

This year’s program honors the life the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Please check out the Great Read website for a long list of related events at all our nine partner libraries.

  • To make up for the February 9, 2018 snow day, the new, TENTATIVE last day of school is now May 29, 2018. May 25, 2018 will now be a full day, and the 29th will be an Early Release day.
