Education Partners, hello.

Here is this week’s serving of District 202 news and information…


The Board of Education is seeking nominations for its 24th annual Awards of Excellence.

Students, staff, parents and community members are welcome and encouraged to nominate teachers and non-administrative staff whose work on behalf of students, and support of District 202 has been exceptional in some way.

All nominations must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016.

The Awards for Excellence ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 in the auditorium at Plainfield East High School, 12001 S. Naperville Road, Plainfield. 


  • It is spring musical season in District 202, and our high schools have a terrific slate of shows nearly ready to go.

  • The Plainfield High School Hockey Association’s JV Red team will play in the Illinois West Founders Cup Championship Game at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, February 28, 2016  at All Seasons Ice Arena, 31W330 North Aurora Road, Naperville.
  • PNHS graduate Karlie Traversa is a finalist in Classical Singer Magazine's National Vocalist Contest for the second time. The Finals will be held in Boston in May.
  • PEHS freshman Rylie Traversa will sing the National Anthem this weekend and next for the Northern Illinois Hockey League. 
  • Several student athletes won top honors at last week’s state wrestling meet:

PSHS

  • Eric Johnson -- 3rd  place, 220 pounds
  • Danny Saracco --4th place, 195 pounds

PEHS

  • Michael McGee -- 2nd place, 120 pounds (also -- apologies to Michael for accidentally omitting him from last week’s announcement of state qualifiers)
  • Zach Krause 4th place, 138 pounds

PNHS

  • Marcus Povlick – 2nd place, 106 pounds.
  • Several student athletes will compete this weekend in the state swimming meet:

PEHS

  • Kyle Potts (200 meter Individual Medley and 200 meter Medley Relay)
  • Merek Avery (100 meter Backstroke and 200 meter Medley Relay)

PNHS

  • Brandon Tran (100 meter Fly and 100 meter Breaststroke)
  • Ryan Netzel (200 meter and 500 meter Freestyle)

All four athletes also qualified in the 200 meter relay.
