MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT 202

Education Partners, hello.

Here is this week’s District 202 news and information…


  • The Board of Education will meet in regular session Monday, April 25, 2016 at the District 202 Administrative Center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield.

The Board will hold a public hearing on the proposal to outsource custodial services at 6:30 p.m.

***The Board is not expected to vote on the proposal at this meeting***

The regular public session will start at 7:30 p.m.


  • The 2016 Great Read community literacy program will wrap up on April 28th with a great program about “Chicago in the Movies.” Check out the Great Read web site for many activities and events at our 10 partner libraries.
  • Looking for volunteer opportunities and a chance to serve our community? Check out The Big Serve.
  • Once again this year, District 202 is proud to host the StarTalking Chinese immersion classes in June at Plainfield North High School. Register now.

EPAS/PSAE Make-up Testing

  • Freedom Elementary School, led by the 5th Grade Student Council recently collected and donated over 2,400 food and personal care items to the United Way of Will County and Crystal Lawns Elementary’s new Bags of Hope backpack food program.
  • Grand Prairie Elementary 4th grader Bridget Morris attended the U.S. Science and Engineering festival in Washington, D.C. on April 16, 2016. She saw hand-on demonstrations of STEM activities from various exhibitors including nationally-known science educator Steve Spangler.
  • The Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association honored five Plainfield North High School seniors, and one Plainfield East High School senior at its recent awards banquet:

From PNHS:

  • Marcus Povlick was a finalist for Scholastic Wrestler of the year;
  • Povlick, Tyler Myers, Marshall Dillon, and Justin Reynolds were among 26 students statewide named All-State Academic Award winners;

From PEHS:

  • Zach Krause was also an All-State Academic Award winner, and a finalist for Scholastic Wrestler of the year. He also received Ken Gerdes Memorial Leadership Award.

Finally, PNHS Principal Ray Epperson was a finalist for the Administrator of the Year award.
