Here is this week’s helping of District 202 news and information…



  • The Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School, 1900 Oxford Way, Joliet. The public session will start at 7:30 p.m.
  • Once again this year, District 202 is proud to host the StarTalking Chinese immersion classes in June at Plainfield North High School. Register now.

  • Indian Trail Indian Middle School 8th grader Katia Delgado won first prize in the Three Rivers Education Partnership (TREP) safety poster contest.
  • As well, Indian Trail 8th grader Kyren Rudolph 8; 7th graders Raeya Maza Morgan Harrington and Kendal Freischlag; and 6th grader Kayln Jackson were all finalists in the TREP safety poster contest.
  • PHSCC freshman Nasa Vo won first place for her poster in the TREP safety poster contest.
  • Heritage Grove Middle School 6th grader Dana Janiec won a Bronze medal from USA Archery indoor nationals.
  • PHSCC senior Jessica Johnson won first place and a $3,000 scholarship in Will County State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow’s “Dangers of Heroin” art contest.
  • PEHS senior Grace Howe raised over $5,000 through a bowling fundraiser on April 30, 2016 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
  • 2013 PEHS graduate Salma Qamruddin was selected as one of the new Drum Majors for the University of Illinois Marching Illini for the 2016-17 school year. 
  • PSHS senior Amanda Swanson, junior Alex Hurtado and freshman Kennedy Branch have all qualified for the state math competition to be held on May 7, 2016 at the University of Illinois.
  • PNHS student athletes Marilyn Gonzalez and Emily Domabyl will compete at the state badminton tournament in the doubles category, on Friday, May 13, 2016. This is the first PNHS Doubles team to advance to the state tourney.
