MESSAGE FROM DISTRICT 202

Education Partners, hello.

Here is this week’s District 202 news and information…


  • The Plainfield North High School baseball team will play tomorrow (Friday) at 5 p.m. in the semifinals of the state baseball tournament against the reigning state champ, Providence Catholic. This is the first time the PNHS baseball team has played at state.

The game will be at Silver Cross Field in downtown Joliet. PNHS will also play Saturday afternoon, win or lose.

Finally, a celebration for this year's team will be held at PNHS at 2 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium, 12005 S. 248th Street, Plainfield.

  • Check out this week's progress on the high school football stadium renovations under way this summer at Plainfield High School-Central Campus and Plainfield South High School through September 12, 2016. 
  • The 2016-17 School Year calendar was amended in May to extend Spring Break by two days, so that students are not in school on Election Day.

  • The Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, June 13, 2016 at the District Administrative Center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield. The public session will start at 7:30 p.m.
  • Catholic Charities will host its annual Back to School Fair from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at St. Clare Campus (the former Guardian Angels home), 1550 W. Plainfield Road, Joliet.

  • 2016 Plainfield East High School graduate Jared Bryson will attend Morehouse College in Atlanta this fall on a full-ride scholarship as a Stamps Leadership Scholar.

The prestigious Stamps Leadership Scholars Program at Morehouse College benefits exemplary students with at least a 3.7 grade point average. Recipients may also access a special fund to support study abroad trips, undergraduate research trips, unpaid internships and academic or co-curricular conferences.

  • The District 202 Special Olympics team will compete at the state Special Olympics at Illinois State University on June 11, 2016.
  • District 202 students and staff collected and donated $147,047.82 to the American Heart Association this school year. Participating schools were:
    • Aux Sable, Heritage Grove and Indian Trail middle schools
    • PHSCC, PSHS, PNHS and PEHS
    • Creekside, Eichelberger, Lakewood Falls, Liberty, Meadow View, Ridge, River View and Walker’s Grove elementary schools.
    • The Will County Land Use Department recently awarded Earth Flags to Central, Eagle Pointe, Lakewood Falls and Liberty elementary schools, and Aux Sable Middle School for their efforts to support the environment by recycling.
