TOP SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

These District 202 social media posts got the most attention and feedback this week:
instagram In December 2017, a Liberty Elementary School Girl Scout troop, who were first-graders at the time, learned about ways to use resources wisely and care for the Earth. To make a positive impact in the community, Girl Scout Troop 75134 from Liberty, began collecting and sorting plastic caps and lids. The plan was to bring them to Green Tree Plastics in Indiana where the plastic would be turned into a buddy bench for Liberty. The goal was to collect 200 pounds of plastic for the bench, but then the school wanted a couple of picnic tables for children and staff. Willing to help, the goal then changed. The Girl Scout troop collected 1,000 pounds of caps and lids for two picnic tables and donated close to $1,000 of funds raised through the cookie program to complete the project on July 11, 2019, right before the girls began 4th grade. Liberty PTA paid for one of the tables and the troop provided the caps for the table. #202proud

facebook After two years in the making, Lincoln Elementary School finally has an outdoor classroom and garden!

The new space, which is behind the school, offers flexible seating, raised beds for sensory and edible gardens, chalkboards and more!

The Lincoln Grows team hopes other schools in the district will implement an outdoor classroom and garden, Sula said.

“We want to make sure this can be duplicated to the other schools,” she said. “Everyone who is helping with this has kids here, so there is an invested interest to keep this going.” #202proud LincolnGrows
