Education Partners, hello.

Here is the “Thanksgiving” edition of District 202 news and information: 

The Plainfield North High School football team will play in the state 7A finals against East St. Louis at 4 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the University of Illinois-Champaign. *** PNHS is the first District 202 football team to play in the state finals.

PNHS will celebrate their trip to state this weekend:

  • Saturday: on the way home, between 9-10 p.m. (depending on when the game ends) there will be a police and fire truck escort starting at the District Administrative Center, to Lockport St, to Van Dyke, to 119TH St., and then to PNHS. 

***The Police request that cars do not follow the buses along the route.  Please find a spot along the route to cheer the team.

  • Sunday: at 2 p.m. the school will host a celebration and trophy presentation in the gym. 

  • Here are the Board of Education Meeting Notes from the November 21, 2016 regular meeting.
    • The Board heard a presentation about the proposed 2016 tax levy the official request for the funds due to the district. Both the proposed levy and the overall district tax rate are expected to drop.
  • District 202 is once again giving the state “5 Essentials” survey November 16, 2016-January 16, 2017. The 5 Essentials lets parents, students and staff reflect on their school’s academic and work climate.
  • The Village Preservation Association of Plainfield will host a “Historic Plainfield House Walk” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 to help maintain the 1847 historic school house located adjacent to the Bonnie McBeth Learning Center.

End of Semester One

  • PNHS freshman Jessica Davis finished 8th in the 100 yard freestyle at the girls’ state swim meet last weekend.
  • Drauden Point Middle School 8th grader Ethan Albright is one of only 13 baseball players chosen to play on the 14U All-American team representing the United States in the Cocoa Beach Winter World Series Showcase, in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The tournament will be held December 27-30, 2016.
  • Liberty Elementary students and staff raised and donated $982 to the Heifer International food program – in trade for Principal Michelle Imbordino and Assistant Principal Jeff Peterson letting themselves be taped to the gym wall (see video below.) The school raised and donated $1,767.20 total for the charity. 

The District 202 Community Relations Department is traveling around the district taking pictures. Check out what our students have been up to!
