- Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Abrell will host the second of this year's four Community Coffees with the Superintendent from 8:30-9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the District Administrative Center, 15732 Howard Street. All are welcome.
- Dr. Abrell chatted recently with WJOL radio (1340 AM) morning host Scott Slocum about full-day kindergarten, middle school schedule changes and more.
- The Plainfield Fire Department will host a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2015 at the Fire Department's Administrative Building on 23748 W. 135th Street (east of Route 59).
Donors must be at least 16, and students who donate will be entered to win a $1,000 college scholarship. go to www.heartlandbc.org to register to donate, or call Rhonda Callans to volunteer at (815) 258-9637.

KUDOS AND CONGRATULATIONS

- Just announced late today: 266 District 202 high school students have been named 2016 Illinois State Scholars based on their academic achievement, test scores and class ranking. This is a new record-high for District 202, topping last year's 242, which was also a record-high. A complete press release will be published ASAP next week.
- Plainfield East High School Humanities Department Division Chair Kate Morris spoke at a recent anti-drunk driving ceremony hosted by Secretary of State Jesse White, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists.
Morris has spoken on the subject for 16 years. Her sister, Erin Olmsted was killed by a drunk driver as a senior at Sandburg High School.
