It’s been a busy, wintry week for District 202 students and staff. As always we hope you have had a good week. Here is today’s selection of D. 202 news and information:

This Week's Highlights


  • District 202 families are invited to “The Screen Zombie” -- a special program about developing a health relationship with social media.

This program will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, January 31st at Plainfield East High School. It’s presented by the Plainfield Parent Community Network.

  • Plainfield South high school students can get free heart screenings in February 2019. (PHSCC and PEHS students will be able to get the same screenings next school year.)

***Parents, guardians and community member volunteers are also needed to help screen students***

  • The Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the district administrative center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield.  Here is the full meeting agenda.
  • The Board is slated to hear information at this meeting about the possibility of
    • implementing an 8-period high school day and
    • modifying high school start times
  • The second installment of our new District 202 In Focus video series highlights the English Language department which supports more than 2,100 students and their families who speak more than one language at home. Check it out!
  • Feel like a “Wizard of Oz” expert? Register now to compete in a Wizard of Oz Trivia Contest at the 2019 Great Read kickoff program on January 31, 2019. “Oz”-themed prizes will be awarded. Teams can include up to five people, and individual registrants will be assigned to a team. Also:
  • Finally, the whole family is invited to watch the 1939 classic movie, “The Wizard of Oz” starring Judy Garland at the Closing Event on February 28, 2019.

Kudos and Congratulations
  • Plainfield North High School student athletes Nick Miller and Tyler Wilmoth both recently rolled perfect “300” games at the conference bowling tournament.
  • The PNHS and Plainfield High School – Central Campus dance teams both are competing at the state dance meet this weekend.
  • Plainfield South High School student athlete Christian Knowlton and PHSCC student athlete Ryan Arens are competing this weekend at the state bowling meet.
  • The Plainfield East High School Pep Band will perform at the 2019 girls’ volleyball tournament in November 2019.
