Hello, District 202 Education Partners,

It's been another busy week. Here is today’s selection of D. 202 news and information:


This Week's Highlights


  • Here is the UPDATED 2018-19 calendar, including the five “Emergency Days” that have been used. The last day of school is now June 5, 2019.
    • The High School Summer School schedule has also been changed:
      • Session 1 will now begin on Thursday, June 6, 2019 with attendance on Friday, June 7th.
      • The traditional Monday-Thursday schedule will start on Monday June 10th and continue through June 27th.
      • Session II will remain the same. 
  • “The Screen Zombie” social media safety program hosted by Plainfield Parent Community Network has been rescheduled and will now be presented on February 27th.
  • Plainfield South high school students can get free heart screenings in February 2019. (PHSCC and PEHS students will be able to get the same screenings next school year.)

***Parents, guardians and community member volunteers are also needed to help screen students***

  • The Board of Education will meet in special session at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the district administrative center. No action will be taken at this meeting. Here is the agenda.  
  • The Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the district administrative center. The public portion of the meeting will start at 7:30 p.m. Here is the agenda.
  • District 202-area families are invited to watch the classic movie “The Wizard of Oz” at the 2019 Great Read program finale on February 28, 2019.
  • The third “D. 202 Talks” podcast features Dr. Scott Fink, director for elementary administration and personnel discussing the department’s work to support and guide staff.
  • District 202 will screen the movie “Suicide – The Ripple Effect” at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the auditorium at Plainfield South High School, 7800 W. Caton Farm Road, Plainfield.

This free event is open to the community. It’s presented by the District 202 Plainfield Parent Community Network (PPCN).

  • Several District 202 high school student athletes are competing in the boys’ state swimming meet this weekend:
    • 200 Freestyle Relay – PNHS junior Alex Dvorak; PNHS senior Ryan Crafton; PHSCC senior Alec Danko; PEHS junior Marc Avery
    • 200 IM - Alex Dvorak
    • 50 Freestyle - Marc Avery
    • 100 Butterfly – PNHS junior Liam Davis; Ryan Crafton
    • 100 Freestyle - Marc Avery
    • 500 Freestyle - Marc Avery
    • 400 Freestyle Relay - Alex Dvorak; PHSCC senior Ethan Fox; Ryan Crafton; Marc Avery
  • Three PSHS student athletes earned Top 10 finishes at the recent state individual wrestling meet:
  • Andrew Bejarano (285 pounds) – 3rd place
  • Jake Kendall (160 pounds) – 6th place 
  • James Pierandozzi (145 pounds) 6th place
  • The PSHS wrestling team participated this week in the Dual IHSA team competition.
