Here is this week’s serving of District 202 news and information. 

• The deadline to apply for the lottery for the 2016-17 District 202 preschool programs is 5 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016. 

• The Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, February 8, 2016 at River View Elementary School, 2097 Bronk Road, Plainfield. The public session will start at 7:30 p.m.

• Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lane Abrell will host the third Community Coffee with the Superintendent for this school year at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the District Administrative Center, 15732 Howard Street, Plainfield.

• The 2016 Great Read community literacy program is celebrating everything “Made in Illinois” – from music, to food, to literature to culture. Check out this year’s long list of fun, educational and entertaining programs for all ages.

• The Jon Balke Student Art Gallery is proud to feature works this month from Liberty, Meadow View and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools; Indian Trail and Timber Ridge middle schools; and Plainfield East High School.

• John F. Kennedy Middle School students raised $55,456.43 to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through its 9^th annual Math-a-Thon last week. Since opening nine years ago, JFK has raised and donated an astounding $327,261.16 to St. Jude.
