Hello, District 202 Education Partners,

Obviously, the most important news this week is about COVID-19 coronavirus.

Per the direction of Governor Pritzker late this afternoon, all schools will be closed from Tuesday, March 17 through at least April 6th.

Students should report to school on Monday, March 16th to get the required books and information about E-Learning opportunities explained below.

District 202 will follow the direction of the Governor and the State Board of Education regarding educational opportunities while schools are closed.  This information will be shared with families.

Please visit our COVID-19 Information website for more information including the newly updated Parent Letter, which has lots of importation details.

Meanwhile, here is the rest of this week’s selection of D. 202 news and information:

census 2020, everyone counts!

The 2020 Census will be conducted this spring. April 1st is Census Day! It is vitally important to our community that everyone be counted.

Here is some basic information about the Census.

Did You Know?

District 202 is proud to help educate and encourage our community about the 2020 Census.

On March 12th, community members started getting get personalized letters from the United States Census Bureau encouraging them to complete the Census online or through their smart phone.

The letter includes a personalized, 12-digit Census ID code.

Go to http://my2020census.gov, use that code to sign in, and you’re all set! No one will come knocking on your door!

***Remember to report who will be living in your house as of April 1st***

But, if for some reason you can’t complete the Census now, or online, traditional Census workers will still visit later this spring to help with this vital process.

Now, to put you in the right frame of mind, check out our awesome new 2020 Census video, featuring District 202 students and staff!

Census data help determine our legislative representation in Congress and our share of $675 billion in federal funding.

This year, for the first time ever, we will be able to complete the Census on our phones and computers – and of course the “old fashioned” way, too, on paper!

Thank you in advance for doing your part!

instagram image from instagram The Plainfield East High School National Art Honors Society and Poetry Club, with the help of the National Honors Society members, teamed up for a project called “Kindness Rocks”. Everyone in the entire school was challenged to decorate two rocks throughout the month of February. The idea was to decorate rocks with encouraging messages. Now that the project is complete, one rock will be placed in the new wildflower and sculpture garden at the school. The other rock can be kept for encouragement, or passed onto a friend or loved one to give them a smile and help them through their day. #202proud
