Mrs. Kalantzis, College and Career Counselor, works with the Counselors to provide students assistance and support in making post-high school plans. The process is ongoing throughout high school, and includes individual appointments and group guidance focusing on career exploration, college/military/trade school planning, the financial aid process, and scholarship searches.

PNHS students are using School Links for college and career information. View parent/guardian info letters in English or Spanish for details about this new tool to help your child be successful after graduation from District 202.
Updated information is posted on the PNHS website and in the grade level Google Classrooms.

Mini Info Session - College Application Process - There will be a 25-minute presentation for senior parents on Curriculum night, Aug. 21st at 6PM. Mrs. Kalantzis will cover the basics of the college application process, including the application, transcripts, letters of rec, essay, and financial aid/scholarships. Presentation here.
Freshman Group Guidance - The counselors will meet with all 9th graders through Wellness classes on Thursday, August 21st. They will share important high school information such as graduation requirements, support services, extracurricular activies, and SchooLinks college and career resource. Presentation here.
Senior Group Guidance - Mrs. Kalantzis will visit all Senior English classes between Aug. 27-Sept.9 to review post-secondary planning which included the college application process. Presentation and handout here.
College Admissions Essay Writing Workshop - Seniors who would like to learn more about how to write an effective college admissions essay can check out this workshop. September 12th during 6th hour. Sign up here.
Walk-In Wednesdays - Seniors who need college application help can walk into the College and Career Center-room 300 on Wednesdays during their study hall Sept. 10th-Oct.29th. Flyer here.
College reps visit PNHS - Various college reps will visit PNHS to meet with interested seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays Sept. 16th-Nov. 4th. Schedule also posted on SchooLinks and Google classroom.
FAFSA - The 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens up October 1st. Current college-bound seniors should be applying to see if they qualify for any federal aid. View the FAFSA site for the application and the Parent Guide for more detailed information.
Freshman Group Guidance Round 2 - All 9th grade study halls had group guidance in the Auditorium on Wednesday, Nov. 5th. They learned about graduation and college requirements, course selection information for sophomore year, and completed a SchooLinks activity. See presentation here.
Junior Group Guidance - Mrs. Kalantzis will visit all junior English classes Nov. 10th-20th to conduct group guidance. Students will learn about graduation and college requirements, course selection information for senior year, and complete a SchooLinks activity. See presentation here.
Sophomore Group Guidance - Mrs. Kalantzis will visit all sophomore English classes in December to conduct group guidance. Students will learn about graduation and college requirements, course selection information for junior year, and complete a SchooLinks activity.
Scholarship Workshop - Mrs. Kalantzis will host a monthly scholarship workshop on Dec. 5th during 4th hour. Topics covered: various types of financial aid, scholarship criteria, where to find scholarships, common mistakes/scams, etc. Students can sign up via flyer.
