The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory and excessive heat watch for our area until 8 p.m. Tuesday. District 202 uses the following guidelines on days with extremely hot and or humid weather:
• Recess/PE outdoors if the heat index is 90 degrees or below
• Recess/PE indoors if the heat index is above 95 degrees
The heat index takes into account both air temperature and relative humidity. If the heat index is between 91 degrees and 94 degrees principals can decide if students stay inside or go outdoors.
Afterschool sports
High and middle school athletic directors will communicate any changes to their communities. Please also watch middle and high school social media accounts for updates.

Picture Day is Coming! Mark your calendars for Thursday, Sept 5th!

Today 4th grade students in Mrs. Schultz's class experimented to see the relationship between energy and speed. Students took turns rolling the ball using very little energy. Student observers counted how many seconds it took for the ball to hit the wall. Then students rolled the ball a second time using more energy. Student observers again kept track of the time. Students observed that more energy increased the speed and made the ball bounce back.

This year the district is encouraging the implementation of restorative circles in our classrooms. Teachers received training on how to use this teaching strategy effectively. This will build class community, sense of belonging as it gives students a voice in their room, but it will eventually allow students to be empower to call a circle together themselves to discuss concerns that might impact their classroom. Having a dedicated 15 min SEL block at the start of everyone’s day helps to support this initiative and start our students’ off with their best foot forward! Everyone from Kinder to 5th is trying it out!!!
