More than 200 high school teachers attended the District 202 annual Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI) last month.

The annual institute brings together College Board Advanced Placement first-time and veteran teachers from around the world to attend workshops to learn how to teach or improve their AP teaching methods.

College Board-certified consultants teach more than 20 workshops, including art and design, calculus, German, biology, physics, human geography, psychology, and US government.

The annual event is hosted by District 202's Curriculum and Instruction Department.

Dr. Kate Morris, Director of High School in the Curriculum and Instruction Department, along with Dr. Craig Brown, Director of High School in the Administration and Personnel Department, oversee the event.

"The Advanced Placement Summer Institute is crucial for our district participants because it provides teachers with the essential tools to help students succeed in their AP courses," said Morris.

"This four-day intensive training teaches our AP educators how to best prepare students for success, expands their knowledge of course content, and helps them build professional networks through the College Board. "
