Meadow View Elementary School is celebrating one of its fifth graders after she acted quickly to aid a woman who fell in the school’s parking lot before school.
Quinley Fitzgerald was headed into school on August 28 when she noticed a woman fall and hit her head on the blacktop.
Fitzgerald ran over to the woman who was asking someone to call 911.
“I just ran over there, I wasn’t nervous or scared,” Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald called 911, then gave the phone to another adult, so she could run into the school to get paper towels to help clean up the blood.
Principal Dr. Brian Sorg said the woman is feeling better.
Fitzgerald’s mom, Jessica Obrzut learned of her daughter’s actions later when Quinley called.
“I told her I was very proud of her and that was such a great thing to do,” Obrzut said.
Obrzut added that Fitzgerald is level-headed and mature.
Meadow View Elementary School administrators said they were impressed by Fitzgerald’s quick action.
“Quinley acted perfectly – she was so brave and calm – we are extremely proud of her,” said Sorg.
School administrators honored Fitzgerald “In Recognition of her Bravery and Quick Thinking” at school on September 12.
