“I am passionate about fundraising for the March of Dimes because I was born premature,” Bronowicki said. “I want to raise awareness and support moms and babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).”

Her commitment is deeply personal.

Bronowicki was born prematurely at just 27 weeks following a series of serious complications. She spent 122 days in the NICU at Rush University Medical Center, including her first week on life support before she was able to breathe independently.

During her care, the March of Dimes supported medical teams with critical, up-to-date research that helped guide the treatment that ultimately saved her life. plainfield north high school senior lucy bronowicki as an infant

Today, Bronowicki stands as a testament to the organization’s impact.

Now a senior, she has been fundraising for three years, continuing a family tradition her mother began 17 years ago in gratitude for the care that helped save her life.

In addition to her advocacy work, Bronowicki is an active participant at Wilco Area Career Center, where she is exploring future career pathways and preparing for life after high school.

Bronowicki’s journey from a fragile beginning to a determined advocate highlights the power of resilience and the profound difference one story can make.
