The Plainfield School District 202 Foundation for Excellence continues to expand opportunities for graduating seniors through its growing scholarship program, made possible by the generosity of community members who believe in investing in the future of District 202 students.
For the 2026-27 academic year, the Foundation for Excellence is offering multiple scholarship opportunities recognizing students’ academic achievements, career interests, leadership, service and unique talents.
This year’s opportunities include two new scholarships: the Angie and John Muhlig Scholarship and the Bonnie Hagen Rizzo Memorial Scholarship. They join a growing list of awards established through the generosity of community members, families and organizations.
The Foundation for Excellence also offers scholarships established in recent years, including the Carla Altum Art Scholarship and the Thomas A. Hernandez Memorial Scholarship, providing additional opportunities for students to pursue their passions and continue their education after graduation.
“Every scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It represents someone in our community believing in our students and investing in their future,” Foundation Vice-Chair Margie Bonuchi said. “We are incredibly grateful to the individuals, families and organizations who continue to create opportunities that help our graduates achieve their goals.”
Plainfield South High School alumna Olivia Weymouth received the Foundation for Excellence’s Martens Family Science Scholarship.
“Receiving the Martens Family Science Scholarship was such a blessing, and I’m incredibly grateful to the Martens family for their generosity,” Weymouth said. “The scholarship helped pay my tuition at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. I hope to pay their kindness forward by dedicating myself to nursing and helping people feel loved and cared for, just as I felt after receiving this scholarship.”
Dr. Glenn Wood, Superintendent of Schools, said the Foundation’s scholarship program reflects the community’s ongoing commitment to District 202 students and their future success.
“Community partnerships make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students,” Wood said. “Through these scholarships, our students see firsthand that their community believes in them, supports their aspirations and wants to help them succeed.”
