District 202 will share information and resources to promote family well-being on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Plainfield High School-Central Campus, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive, Plainfield.
District 202's Plainfield Parent Community Network will present this free program, “Create the Space to Find Their Space – Ten Things Parents Can Do – from Kindergarten through Senior Year,” with Dr. Joe Sweeney.
Sweeney, who has spent 22 years in education and is a father of four, has noticed that adults who care the most often step in the quickest to help their child with a problem.
His presentation will ask parents to pick one thing they do for their child and stop doing that for one week to encourage their child to solve problems on their own.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with a provider fair, and the program will start at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Please enter through the doors on the stadium side of the school.
Snacks and free childcare will be provided.
