The Plainfield School District Foundation for Excellence has announced the recipients of its annual Bonnie McBeth Early Learning Grant, which supports professional growth and innovative learning opportunities at Bonnie McBeth Learning Center.
Six educators were selected to receive grants totaling $5,000:
• Christine Ball
• Natalie Barber
• Patty McNamara
• Gabriella Olson
• Zahra Rasheed
• Nicole Sharp
This year’s grant recipients will use their funding to pursue professional development and continuing education opportunities focused on early childhood education, special education, student behavior, language development, and inclusive instructional practices.
The grants provide educators with opportunities to expand their knowledge, access evidence-based strategies, and bring new resources and practices back to their classrooms and colleagues to support student learning and success.
About the grant
Bonnie McBeth became District 202’s first kindergarten teacher in 1951. During her 38-year career, she taught students, mentored colleagues, and advanced innovative approaches to education. She later served as a reading specialist and as one of the District’s first Reading Recovery teachers.
The Bonnie McBeth Early Learning Grant honors her legacy by providing educators with opportunities to continue learning, strengthen their practice, and enhance the learning environment for students.
