Liberty Elementary School first graders in Mrs. Minnerick’s class began their coding journey this past week. Media Specialist Mrs. Milen read the book “How to Code a Sandcastle” to students. The class discussed what coding is and why it’s important. Students worked in groups using Thanksgiving-themed hopscotch coding chips to create a code they followed.

Students at Central Elementary participated in Thanksgiving Bingo Bowling! They worked in groups to build Thanksgiving feasts by earning blocks for each point they scored in bowling. While playing, students discussed family traditions and what they are thankful for. Students loved sharing about favorite family foods and who gets to “break the wishbone” or the rules to their annual Thanksgiving football games. Students also discussed how developing an attitude for gratitude can positively impact mental health.

Have a wonderful holiday! #202proud

Employees in the Aramark main office at Plainfield High School-Central Campus generously donated a complete Thanksgiving Day meal to two District 202 families.

It was a DINOvember to remember at Charles Reed Elementary School! Students read books about dinosaurs and then engaged in dinosaur-themed Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) activities. Roar! #202proud

Congratulations to the Creekside Elementary School community for winning the Battle of the Labs versus Grand Prairie Elementary School! It was Grand Prairie's facility dog Simi against Creekside's facility dog Spencer to see which school could collect the most food for Bags of Hope. Creekside collected 4,590 items, while Grand Prairie collected 3,251. The big winner was the Bags of Hope food program, which will use the donations to make Thanksgiving better for many families!
