Five hundred and sixty-three District 202 high school graduates and current students have been named 2024 AP Scholars based on their performance on the Advanced Placement exams given during the 2024-2025 school year.
District 202 students notched an average score of 3 out of a possible five, among all students who took at least one AP exam. Many students took more than one AP exam.
District 202 recorded 104 AP Scholars in 2010, the first year that students from all four high schools took AP exams.
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program allows motivated and academically prepared high school students to take challenging, college-level courses and potentially earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
District 202 has significantly increased both the number of and access to AP courses, and provided additional support to students who choose to take them. In 2006, District 202 offered only four AP courses. District 202 now offers 30 AP courses.
Students do not have to take the AP exams associated with their courses, but most do. Students may earn college credit if they earn a 3 or higher on an AP exam.
This year’s results follow major initiatives implemented over the last several years to improve high school achievement, including increasing the number of more rigorous college-level courses and increasing access to such courses for all students.

The 2024 AP Scholars include:
Plainfield High School – Central Campus -- 90 students
Plainfield South High School – 111 students
Plainfield North High School – 189 students
Plainfield East High School -- 173 students
The AP Scholar Awards are given at three levels:
AP Scholars earned scores of 3 (out of a possible five) on three or more AP exams.
AP Scholars with Honor earned an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.
AP Scholars with Distinction earned an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.
